Jennifer Love Hewitt's The Client List: 'Delicious trash'?

"It's clearly not your mother's Lifetime anymore" tease ads for the new series The Client List. The show, in which Jennifer Love Hewitt essentially plays an empowered hooker, is something of a departure for a network best known for "poorly shot films about weepy women in jeopardy," says Troy Patterson at Slate. Based on the 2010 TV movie of the same name (which earned Hewitt a Golden Globe nod), The Client List focuses on Texas mom Riley Parks who's forced into work as a masseuse after her husband leaves her. Quickly learning that clients leave bigger tips when she offers extra services, Parks becomes skilled at doling out happy endings. Viewers got their first taste of her talents on Sunday night. "Delicious trash" or just trash?
It's escapist fun: The Client List is "deliciously trashy, campy," and "generally quite fun, whether one chooses to laugh with it or at it," says Brian Lowry at Variety. The dialogue is unapologetically punny — "This job is all about flexibility," quips the massage parlor's manager. The male "customers" are delectable eye-candy. And Hewitt creates a charming, relatable character who's easy to root for. Furthermore, it's a refreshing change for the network. The Client List offers something that's typically absent from Lifetime's menu: "A happy ending."
Did anyone catch this show Sunday night? I know must of us are not watching lifetime unless you have a SO, but I set the DVR tonight to record the replay of premiere episode tomorrow to see if it is any good. If anything JLH has a decent rack so there will be some eye candy.

Like most lifetime shows, the way they have her husband leave her makes him look like a complete prick. The cliffhanger at the end of the episode has him calling her so I guess we will find out why he left. But really, the way it they made it look was that he left because she was able to get a job and he was not. (They were both out of work and behind on the mortgage). They want you to hate him and feel sympathy for her.
What was not realistic, were the clients that received extras. All of them look as though they walked out of a Chippendale's show, chiseled chest with six pack abs. Her first "extras" client was an oilman, so it made me think of farmerart in his younger days. lol. The non extras clients were overly harry men, old ladies and people who made her job difficult. It didn't pay well which pushed her to doing extras.
The real part we all see, is the young hot girl, trying to make additional money to pay rent (mortgage) etc. Trying to deal with two kids who are wondering where there father is and the trials and tribulations of life as a single mother.
JLH looked hot in the different outfits she wore for different clients which was nice. The heartwarming part of the story was JLH's character talking with one of the extras clients and encouraging him to get back with his wife who he still loved (she never ended up providing extras to him). The wife was stalking JLH's character and when she confronted her after she followed her home, found out she still loved him and after talking with her got them back together again.
The show was entertaining for me at least, I will watch it again and see how it goes. It may not work for many on this site.
Did this premise remind anyone of Breaking Bad just a little?
