Spirit Airlines uses strippers to promote sale
SPIRIT Airlines has stooped to a new low by using mobile female strippers to promote its new service to Las Vegas.
The strippermobiles – featuring bikini-clad women pole dancing on a moving truck behind flexi glass – are being driven around Los Angeles with the words: “I'll go both ways for $18â€.
Spirit's new service between Los Angeles and Las Vegas began on May 5th.
The airline recently jumped on the back of the US Congressman Anthony Weiner debacle by offering a “Big Weiner Saleâ€.
The Florida-based airline announced the $9 fares as “too HARD to resist,†with a photo of a hot dog and the subject line: “Want To See Our Weiner?â€
It's not the first the airline has resorted to sex to sell flights.
Last June they released an ad featuring scantily clad women poking fun at the BP oil disaster.
A series of photos featuring oil-drenched women in bikinis appears on the Spirit Airlines' website with the slogan: "Check Out The Oil On Our Beaches."
In 2009 the airline launched a "We're No Virgin" sale featuring the slogan: "We've Been Cheap and Easy for Years."
The same year flight attendants hit out at being forced to promote alcohol on airline crew aprons and condemned a series of sexually suggestive advertisements
The airline ran a series of ads inviting customers to enjoy DD's (deep discounts) and MILF (many islands, low fare) – referring to large breasts and an acronym made popular in the 1999 movie American Pie.
