recent reviews of Flight Club have mentioned construction of a casino area. I called and asked about it. She said hoping to open in March and plans to have blackjack, texas hold em poker, and roulette. That was all she knew though. Any one know anything about it? Any other Detroit area strip club with casino/gambling?
I know centerfolds here in columbus had a poker night promotion, but as CTQWERTY knows, that club is BORING - no mileage whatsoever.
There are always rumors about Detroit casinos adding stripclubs or SCs getting gaming licenses, but nothing happens. If the state authorized the merger of the two business models, only a few licenses would be granted and the SCs that didn't have gambling would face serious competition for the big money customers, who would gladly blow cash at a casino that also had a VIP room for lappers. Specifically, I've heard nothing about Flight Club adding a casino. I wonder if they are trying to add video poker games.
I once was so bored at danny's gold fox before it went out of business that I sat at the bar playing their video poker machine. I wasted $8 on cover and the video poker machine was fun but you could not win money from it. Had a decent time but the 4 or so dancers got pissed at me that I was the only customer there on a saturday night and I was not paying any attention to them. Got a few dirty looks from the manager. Never was kicked out but the dancers kept telling me that night I was going to get kicked out unless I bought dances or bought them drinks (dancer drink $10 system).
It did not surprise me at all (and made me happy) to hear that place went out of business.
Texas Hold Em in a strip club? Idle dancers will just sit at the upstairs bar and wait for a winner to celebrate, identify the prey, and then swarm the football as if a fumble had occurred in the lkast minute of a tie game. I can hear the solicitors now "How about a victory BJ???"
It's true. They ain't doing construction for nothing! And it's not like they could just bribe a few people and do it either. There was some serious paperwork and negotiation on this one. I suspect there will be some type of tax that will go to the community to support schools, police, etc.
Construction is going on in the Flight Club for a casino. The casino will be separated from the strip club and will have its own employees. Allen must have gotten approval from the State of Michigan to add gambling, and so he will make money from two vices. But I can't imagine that many high rollers will head to Inkster, Michigan, to gamble. Personally, I have no interest in throwing my money away on gambling. I'd rather throw it away on naked strippers.
Samsung1, you read "it might be run as a charity casino"? I think it's about as likely that Allen will give out free drinks and stop charging the strippers a fee to dance.
Here's what I think is going on. I've talked to some people over there, and I gamble for a living, so I think I have a pretty good idea of the disaster this is going to be. This is opinion, because I have don't know Alan, or what kind of permits are being pulled, so bear with me. Plus I'm a tad long winded, but here goes.
There are 2 different types of legal casinos in Michigan. There's the real casinos (MGM, Moter City, etc...) and there are charity card rooms. This will not be a "real casino," like MGM, etc. There is too much legislature to cut through, and if the billionaires that have tried to get more put in here can't do it, nobody can. Also, there are going to be 3 games from what I hear. Black Jack. Poker. Roulette. Notice what is missing. The bread and butter of all casinos.....SLOT MACHINES. Every real casino in the world depends on slot machines. They are impossible to beat, and they are steady revenue streams. This place will not have them.
This will be a "charity casino." Just like every bowling alley in town has opened one, it is not difficult. Just a permit or two per week for charities that come in and run the money. Most of the house money goes to the charities (not sure of the %.) The poker games have higher rakes. Poker tournaments, almost half the buy in goes to the house. Roulette is a loser game to begin with. Black Jack rules are skewed to the house (house takes pushes, which may not seem like a big deal, but it adds a 15-20% advantage to the houses normal 6% basic strategy advantage.)
The places that have them now, most had extra unused space, and don't invest much money in the "room." It basically brings in people to eat and drink. Alan appears to be going balls out with the construction, as well as space. It seems like a lose/lose to me. People that lose gambling wont have money to blow on the strippers. People that win, obviously take money from the casino (in Black Jack and Roulette.)
To be honest, it makes no sense why he would do this, other than to bring people in the door. I'd like to know the business model, because on the surface, it makes no sense to me.
Like I said, this is my opinion, but it seems like a disaster waiting to happen. I've played in most of the card rooms in town, and if he thinks THAT clientele is what he wants in his Strip Club, this is a big, big mistake.
Once again, just a degenerate gambler/strip club patrons opinion. I'm really not a DEGENERATE gambler, I haven't worked a real job in 5 years, but I do love boobies!
Found out that this is not going to be a "charity" casino. The permit is some special limited gaming permit. That definitely changes my opinion on whether or not it will have some success. Still think it will take business from the strip club side. Robbing Peter to pay Paul never really works. Opening pushed back to April now.
