Georgia man charged with killing pro wrestler at Atlanta strip club

31-year-old Ahmad Gill was arrested at a townhome in Stone Mountain and charged with the murder of pro wrestler, 33-year-old Chris Long
ATLANTA -- DeKalb County authorities have arrested the man they say shot and killed pro-wrestler Chris Long while he was working security at a Buford Highway strip club.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution is reporting that 31-year-old Ahmad Gill was arrested at a townhome in Stone Mountain Wednesday around 3:45 p.m., DeKalb police spokeswoman Mekka Parish said. He was taken into custody by the DeKalb County Sheriff's office fugitive squad.

Police charged Gill with homicide and aggravated assault. He is accused of shooting Long, 33, early Sunday at Shooter Alley.

Long, one of two men who were shot, died after he was taken to a hospital, Parish said. The other man, who police have not named, was released from the hospital Monday morning.

“Apparently three guys started misbehaving and Chris and two other bouncers tossed them out," Long's friend, Frank Aldridge, told the AJC.

While Aldridge said the three men later might have returned to the club and specifically targeted Long, Parish said Monday that "indications from our detectives are the suspect randomly fired inside the club."

Whew. I saw Buford Hwy and was hoping it was not Follies, my favorite Atlanta club. So I am on for a trip Thu afternoon. Speaking of "thug factor" that fits Shooters Alley just right.

I hear you re: Follies. I was just there and didn't hear anything about a shooting, although I suppose at any destination where drinking and confrontations can occur (eg., bars, ball games, night clubs), the potential for violence exists. Shooter's, from what I've heard, has gone more toward the thuggish route than most, which so far, and thankfully, Follies and Pink Pony have resisted.
