Ex bartender claims sex harassment at strip club

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB Fox 41) -- A former bartender at a Louisville strip club has filed suit against her former employer, claiming that she sexually harassed -- and fired because she refused to take part in promiscuous behavior.

The suit describes Kena G. Dennison as a bartender and bar manager who, "was not required nor expected to wear revealing or sexually suggestive clothing, remove her clothing or come into physical contact with other employees and/or patrons."

The focus of the lawsuit concerns events that took place on Jan. 24 or 25. At some point during that time period, Dennison claims she was approached by an unknown patron of the lounge that she refers to as "Shawna or Shauna." The suit says that this individual, "smacked Plaintiff on her butt while laughing at Plaintiff."

The suit goes on to say that Dennison demanded that she stop, and she got upset. The patron told Dennison's manager, Victoria Marler.

At this point, according to the suit, the patron "grabbed and pushed Plaintiff into a beer cooler behind the bar, pinning Plaintiff against the cooler, restricting her movement, while Marler attempted to pull Plaintiff's pants down."

While Dennison pleaded for them to stop, Marler put her face in Dennison's crotch and pulled her hair, according to the suit.

The suit also claims that, prior to this event, Marler had asked Dennison to come into her office and watch a recorded sex act with her -- an offer she refused.

On Jan. 25, the suit alleges, Dennison received a text message from Marler which stated, "That's it! You can't get along with ANYBODY and you are rude! You were talking about me behind my back and I heard you! I don't need you anymore."

Dennison allegedly responded that, "You didn't hear nothing but you are good. I need a statement from you that I'm fired and why."

Marler allegedly replied, "No problem."

The lawsuit claims that Marler's behavior, "was severe and pervasive and sexually charged and created an unreasonable interference with Plaintiff's work performance and an intimidating, hostile and offensive work environment which altered Plaintiff's working conditions."

It also claims that she was fired out of retaliation because she "refused to participate" in the behavior of Marler and the unknown patron referred to as "Shawna or Shauna."
