Dancers among suspects arrested in club break-in

Two dancers from the Cabaret Lounge in Kingston and three men have been arrested in connection with an overnight burglary Tuesday at the Market Street gentlemen's club, police said.

Police solved the case within hours after one of the dancers dropped a movie ticket stub while the group was swiping cash from an office safe.

Investigators reviewed surveillance footage from Movies 14 in Wilkes-Barre that showed the five people walking through the complex hours before the crime.

Cabaret owner Jules Greenberg identified the two women as dancers at his club, and noted one of the men was a former employee.

Those charged in the break-in were: Jennifer Nieves, 22, of Hanover Township; Danielle Havens, 22, of Kingston; Richard Brown, 22, of Hanover Township; Daniel Edmonds, 26, of Kingston; and Charles Middleton, 21, of Kingston.

According to arrest papers:

Greenberg called police around 7:45 a.m. Tuesday to report an overnight break-in and burglary. He said about $2,340 was stolen, along with several bottles of liquor and keys to the property.

While processing the scene, police found a movie ticket for Monday's 5:30 p.m. showing of "Grown Ups" that was purchased at 4:11 p.m. When police showed Greenberg the surveillance tape of the five people, he identified Nieves and Havens as his employees and Edmonds as a former employee.

Police soon went to arrest Edmonds on an unrelated charge. Havens was present and told police about the crime, telling police she was the getaway driver and lookout. Edmonds told police all five people were involved in the burglary. He then allowed police to search his apartment. Officers located $2,338 in cash, a bottle each of blackberry brandy and Jagermeister, keys and broken parts of a door from the Cabaret.

Police learned Middleton also was a lookout, while Brown, Nieves and Edmonds went inside.

Brown, Nieves and Edmonds are charged with burglary, conspiracy, trespassing, theft and receiving stolen property. Havens and Middleton were charged with conspiracy and receiving stolen property.

After being arraigned, Havens was released on $25,000 unsecured bail because she is pregnant, while the others were incarcerated in lieu of bail between $15,000 and $50,000.
