Sex workers out of business during 2010 World Cup; museums and art gallery atten

The business for prostitutes and hookers has slowed considerably during the 2010 World Cup and many can't wait for the games to be over. Many experts thought that prostitute business would be up sustainably in South Africa during the World Cup games, and it was estimated that as many as 40,000 additional prostitutes would come in from around the world for the games.

Saturday morning, CNN reported: "The World Cup has been devastating. We thought it was going to be a cash cow but it's chased a lot of the business away. It's been the worst month in my company's history," said an owner and founder of one of Johannesburg's most exclusive escort companies.

"No one is interested in sex at the moment. I think we've had three customers who traveled here for the World Cup which has seen my group's business drop by 80 percent. I enjoyed watching the games, but I can't wait for everyone to just go home now!" the madam, who works under the alias of "Tori," CNN reported.

Although prostitution is illegal in South Africa, many people believed business would be up for all of the escort services in the country.

Bayever, deputy chairperson of South Africa's Central Drug Authority (CDA) warned: "Forty-thousand new prostitutes. As if we do not have enough people of our own, we have to import them to ensure our visitors are entertained."

Prostitutes business has been down, and many people go to the games or a bar to watch the games and then go home. Attendance at art galleries and museums are up.

My tongue in cheek prediction for the final game of the world cup (Spain vs Netherlands) tomorrow is based off prostitution and strip clubs with data from wikipedia and tuscl.

Prostitution in Spain is not illegal, but owning or running brothels has been illegal since 1956. The pimps and owners of brothels are punished. However, there are many "whiskerias" or "clubs" (where prostitution takes place) and which are tolerated.

According to a recent TAMPEP study, 90% of prostitutes are foreigners. Of all countries studied, only Italy had such a high percentage of migrant prostitutes.

Prostitution is legal and regulated in the Netherlands, and it is common. Netherlands has one of the most liberal prostitution policies in the world, and, as such, it attracts sex tourists from many European countries and from the US.

Netherlands is listed by the UNDOC as a top destination for victims of human trafficking.[11] Out of all Amsterdam's prostitutes, more than 75% are from Eastern Europe, Africa and Asia, according to a former prostitute who produced a report about the sex trade in Amsterdam.

As for strip clubs, Spain has 13 and Netherlands has 8. Most of the clubs in Spain only have 0-3 reviews and date back from 2008. Netherlands has 8 reviews for their one of their strip clubs with as recent as 2010. What is strange about that one club is that 7 of the 8 reviewers gave it a 6-7 while only 1 gave it a 1.00 and the overall rating though is a 1.15.

Prediction based off prostitution/strip clubs: Netherlands wins 2-1

However, the octopus that does the game predictions for the world cup picked Spain to win and that thing has been right 100% of the time. Also the gambling line has Spain has the favored to win.
