Polk County deputies nab suspected robber at strip club

The weekend bender ended for Scot Davis early Saturday when Polk County Sheriff's deputies arrested the West Des Moines man in the parking lot of a strip club north of Des Moines.

Des Moines police sought Davis, 52, in connection with the Thursday robbery of a south Des Moines bar where he allegedly handed out his business card moments before robbing the bar at gunpoint.

Employees of the Outer Limits, 6560 N.E. 14th St., summoned Polk County deputies when bouncers tried to throw him out of the strip club at about 1:30 a.m. Saturday.

Davis left the strip club but allegedly refused to leave the parking lot. Polk County deputies arrived and arrested him on a warrant for first-degree robbery.

After searching Davis, deputies found cocaine in his possession, said Deputy Jana Rooker, Polk County Sheriff's Department spokeswoman.

“He told the deputy that he bought it from one of the dancers inside, but he couldn't describe her,” Rooker said.

Thursday, Davis allegedly had several beers at All In The Family, 4413 Fleur Drive. He left the bar with a female companion only to return moments later with a .22 caliber rifle and demand the money in the register, Des Moines police said.

Davis allegedly fired one round and chased two bartenders in the bar before making off with $1,100 cash. While police investigated the incident, another patron told officers Davis had given him a business card for a contracting business during Davis' first visit to the bar.

Davis was being held in the Polk County Jail on $55,000 bond Saturday.
