Strippers in movies

Every dancer’s favorite- cause they told me so

Hollywood has made plenty of moves about strippers and I have not seen them all and have probably only seen about a dozen. You can google “movies about strippers” and get plenty of hits with various lists. I thought I’d give my top ones for a couple of reasons: (A) viewing suggestions for this crazy time we are experiencing, and (B) not sure when I’ll be going to club again. So without further ado here they are, in no particular order.

Flashdance

Maybe the one that started it all. Yeah I know she’s not really a stripper but Jennifer Beals was sexy as hell and according to internet lore the movie idea came from a strip club visit. The water bucket scene is iconic and the fashion from that movie allowed ladies to wear sweatshirts while still showing cleavage.

Lap Dancing

Small town girl tries to make it as actress in big city and ends up stripping. Lorissa Mccomas was just sexy as hell, plus she gets bonus points for doing a women in prison movie. I think even pornhub has some scenes from this movie on their site. I haven’t seen this one in years but I still recall it fondly. If you’ve never seen it you should.

Hustlers

I was watching this J Lo move about strippers and it made me realize a few things.

1. I am glad I never take a credit card into a club,
2. The big city SC scene during that time was crazy, and
3. The four main girls nailed the stripper stereotypes I tend to go for

You have the sexy Asian, the spicy Latina, the AA with attitude and the blonde spinner. If you add in a feisty redhead that probably covers 85% of my lap dances.

I know the movie was more a composite of the NY scene rather than a specific club but I would be curious to know if anyone on here knew the dancers the characters were based on or knew anyone who got scammed by them. I can recall a time in my life I would have been dumb and horny enough to fall for their ploy. I’ve never been in a club in a major city but I would guess the movie was pretty accurate.

Obviously anyone cast as a stripper will be sexy as hell but all of these girls brought something to the table. Keke Palmer and Lili Reinhart are both smoking hot.

Striptease

Demi Moore at her finest. The movie was just bad but the characters were hilarious. Also this movie helped revive the career of Burt Reynolds who played the ultimate PL. Shockingly Moore’s character was a single mom who stripped to make ends meet. Her baby daddy was the poster boy for the pathetic loser bf that sexy strippers seem to attract.

Showgirls

Possibly the worst movie ever made according to many but I am confident every PL here who went through puberty around the time of “Saved by the Bell” has seen it. If you want to crush the image of feminist good girl Jesse what better role than a stripper? She goes from small town to Vegas with dreams of becoming a showgirl but has to do some stripping along the way.

She shows the harsh inside world of dive bars where the owner expects the girls to offer extras to him and customers. The movie gets bonus points for the dress worn by the hostess/MC/house mom that pops open just so she shows her breasts. The lap dance she gives Kyle MacLachlan is just pure aggression, she pretty much fucks him through their clothes.

There are several other instances of big name actresses playing strippers, Jessica Alba, Natalie Portman, Rose McGowan, but I haven’t seen those movies. I would welcome any comments from those who have.

Hustlers seems to have made the most effort to portray the stripping industry as realistic as possible but that was more a composite of several clubs rather than only one. There may not be an industry that has as much variation in what you will find state-to-state, city-to-city,club-to-club and even dancer-to-dancer as the SC scene. PL’s go to some of them expecting to get laid and others offer zero contact.

Obviously how realistic a movie seems will depend on someone’s own personal experience. Since the first thing to remember when you pay for that lapper is that your mileage may vary it is only appropriate that some may think a stripper move is realistic while others claim it to be a work of pure fiction.

I fucking love Flashdance. Classic.

I haven’t seen Hustlers yet but I want to. That club Showpalace where they filmed it is a club I frequent.

I haven’t heard of lapdance and the other two I heard were so bad that I just never saw them. I’m gonna watch one tonight though just because I’m curious now

Lindsay Lohan danced in I Know who Killed Me (no nudity from her). She looked great, but left the viewer (me) wanting more. I watched a who done it type movie called Stripped to Kill way back in the 90s (and I saw a remake on Netflix a few years back). Both movies I liked. It was the plot where a dancer was killed and an undercover cop gets a job as a dancer to try and get clues regarding the crime....but then there are more murders, so what's the deal? Other dancer eliminating competition, staff member, ex boyfriend , crazy customer? Low budget, lots of nudity etc. Oh actually the remake may have been a reporter going undercover as a dancer instead of a police officer haha.

And Dancing at the Blue Iguana was fantastic....maybe not the movie itself, but certainly the stripping -some beautiful women!
