C'est La Vie Theatre LD party review

New York
This is a review of a new lapdance party in NYC. I'm not gonna fuck around trying to add it to TUSCL as a club since it is a faux-underground club and I am probably going to be the only PL to ever review it. This LD party has been mentioned already at https://www.tuscl.net/postread.php?PID=4… . CLVT seems to have started in Jan 2017. It is a near clone of Lido business model wise. Coat check $5. Cover is $20 before 10 PM, $40 after. The venue is a restaurant in midtown. CLVT operates at the same place 4 days a week. On 1 day a week, another more popular roving LD party operates at the place. I strongly suspect the restaurant owner learned the business model of a LD party after hosting one and is trying to do it himself instead letting a promoter/LD party owner take profit.

At this particular venue, for all LD parties, CLVT and the mainstream one, you have to walk through an open to the public area, with no public customers being aware what is going on in the back room. You wont be stopped and asked going to the back by any of the public side employees of venue. Officially, entry is 3 ways, daily changing "password" SVT/MN style, business card (Lido has them, I didnt ask the CLVT doorman for one), or show email newsletter Lido/Die Happy style. In real life, it was so dead, anyone who walked upto him, he knows what you there for, no need to play games, just say "is this CLVT?" and he said welcome. Signing up for the newsletter is the typical LD party application form, name, age, FB link, boxes for all LD parties. I gave it a phone number as "0". I was still added to the ML.

At this restaurant, when the popular LD party is there, men/customers arent allowed to use the private area single user bathrooms, those are reserved for dancers. And LD customers must go into the public area and use those public area single user bathrooms, usually forming a line. At CLVT, since it was so dead, I just used the private area single user bathrooms, each of which had an 8x11 sheet taped to the door that said women. Waste of calories to hoof it to the public side of the restaurant. Nobody is going to stop me. Im not making any dancers wait on line anyways.

The LD party staff consists of 2 bouncers and 1 doorman/cover cashier. Note when visiting the mainstream LD party at the restaurant, on the one day that CLVT ISNT open, the CLVT staff are physically at the mainstream LD party but are just hanging out doing nothing. They are probably the day to day restaurant staff. They wouldn't tell me why they are there at a non-CLVT night when I approached them. But otherwise nothing negative to say about my interactions with them on my CLVT visit. Soda is $7, same as the other LD party at the venue. The bartender's soda gun doesn't have Diet Coke so there was unprofessional drama of her having to goto the basement of the restaurant and get 12 oz cans of it instead of keeping it at the bar. When this venue is used for the mainstream LD party, there was a couple sternos of food placed out for the 100+ ppl at the LD party (strippers+customers). No food at CLVT. Wouldnt make sense for 5 ppl in the room. There was a "communal" hookah set up in the corner and strippers and staff were taking hits, not knowing protocol (if I'd be charged for it), I declined when offered.

I was the only customer when I came at 9pm. There were 3 girls. Around 930PM another very old very fat very rich PL came. I left around 10PM he was still there. From my breif interactions with that PL, he has been here before, but he was the type that he was completly hiding here from everyone else in his life, so he was very curt. Of the girls, 1 mixed race, 1 dark italian skinny with big nat tits, 1 skinny bimbo blonde with fake tits. Both the italian and the bimbo have poledancing club backgrounds. I didn't interact with the mixed race girl. The 2 girls attitude for talking was excellent but I strongly got the Manhattan strip club vibe, not the LD party vibe from both. These 2 were not "college girls" (they were age wise tho) who responded to a "modeling ad" on CL and have no preconcived notions of what a SC is. They were programmed to be Manhattan poledancers.

LDs were very good grinding, some mileage, but both quickly in the 1st song verbally shut down anything high mileage on their own intiative. Manhattan poledancer vibe, reminds me of Sapphire. I stopped at 1-2 songs with each since this wasn't going to be a Lido or Masked Nights experiance. LDs were done behind Shoji room dividers. I dont belive the room dividers are ever moved between CLVT and its competitor at this venue. Unlike the other LD party, a bouncer wasn't standing in the LD area watching me and the other PL, so this LD party might have high mileage assuming the right girls work there. At one point I got half a song free because of a music problem and a cut off song and 10 seconds of silence. Slightly unprofessionaly that that happened.

Overall, competition is always good, this LD party is basically dead (or "new"), but the girls are NOT bottom of barrel. There are hiring standards here. Since there is nobody here but you and her, she can't really run off to another PL, or run off and huddle in a corner of disinterested strippers on their phones ignoring you. You will get a really hot girl, with alot of chatting, for very few songs. I'll come back in a few weeks, preferably as late in the week as possible, and see if anything changed mileage or girl count wise.

Come here if you already know all the girls and burned through them at SVT/MN/DH/LDR or you dont want your girl to run after "dances are done", because there is nobody else to run too.

Die Happy announced no party this week. Maybe it is because of Easter. Maybe it is because there isn't room for more than 4 LD parties in NYC. The last #5 LD party, LPL died Fall 2016. CLVT only exists because it has no venue rent to pay. There is one LD party I see advertising on CL for girls but I can't figure out its customer facing real name from the text of the ad, and I've never seen any LD parties operate in that area of Manhattan. I've found MN, LD, and SVT ads for girls. I've never seen a girl recruiting ad for DH. IDK how DH finds girls other than word of mouth. Is that ad really for Snctm? LMAO

    S88 - I'm surprised you didn't check out Snctm's opening night in NYC! ;)

You are right. There isn't room for more than SVT and Lido in my opinion.

Great article! Would appreciate hearing more about the other parties. Seems like Lido (and maybe this one) are the only ones happening any more.

It is alot better nowadays. 15-20 women every night. CLVT tends to hire thin NY or NJ girls who aren't transplants, but you get an skew towards dark girls but not urban brickhouse strippers. Lido loves their their fake blondes from fly overstates experimenting with lesbianism and man-hating. I think CLVT skews to really young or really old. No strippers between 23 and 30. CLVT venues arent somewhere to bring your potential business partner to get him drunk to sign an investor agreement. Drink prices nowadays are on cheap side at CLVT. Its still pricey because it is a strip club, but its $1, $2 or $3 cheaper a drink than its competitors. No PLs comes in groups here. It is all solo PLs. But that is good since I dont get ignored for coming alone unlike at other places where dancers are told to ignore solo PLs unless they look like retired whales. If you want to getting lapdances and chatting with dancers CLVT fits the bill. Of all the CLVT locations, I like all of them except the one near Penn Station. Not alot of seats there so you might have to stand and not alot of privacy. The Penn Station location is still better than Lido in all ways IMO. The stripper to PL ratio is always really good at CLVT. Sucks for the strippers, awesome for me.

Went to CLVT tonight for the first time. Having experienced Lido and SVT is guess I had my hopes up, the place, for a quick review, was horrible. I went to the location on 30th, and the venue was super small. It was almost like a night school basement party. Maybe 20guys were there with only 10 girls. I was embarrassed that I brought a friend there. Although I did make him fully aware we were doing a recon mission to see if there was a good lido replacement. I did rsvp which got me a free drink and dance ticket which was good. But after 1 hour we were out of there. When to Ricks to salvage the night. Asking story short, avoid CLVT.

Been a couple times now. I’d not as good as lido was as a whole, but I would say the avg dance is better if you find the right girl. Some venues are much better than others. I would also say the people who run it seem really nice and friendly, a vibe you didn’t get from Lido. Not a club ad...

Has anyone been to ‘new’ lido?

In 2021, can anyone compare CLVT (C'est La Vie Theatre), MN (Masked Nights), DHT (Die Happy Tonight), PE (Password Events), FA (Fetish Affairs), and Lido (now LeRouge, which appears to be still closed)?

CLVT/MN/"Saint Venus Theater" (I will use the name until you win a judgement in court proving you own it Rob) has been one biz for 3 years. CLVT has the cheapest cover deal of the many promoters there. Its filled with 5 foot 6 and up skinny russian and no-tats woke white girls from Cali and the south. Pro pole dancers. Extras are possible at 400-700 cash range after all costs included but for love of god goto tryst MBV or DONY or an AMP at that point.

DHT ultra private not rosewood, I've had pretty good luck getting 1 hour of chat from the girls for only a couple songs, its usually a ghost town guys wise. I've gone too rarely to get or ask for DFK. High song overcount risk but they have full length songs, but the girls stick like glue to you here because low guy count. Make sure to only come early under their covid special happy hour deals.

Password Events and Lido are the same business. 99% of the girls are ex-Le Rouge girls who permanently stayed at Sapphire 39 after Le Rouge and Lido split and started bouncing around the city renting their mailing list to old school strip clubs like Ebay. There are so many PLs and so few girls, you should only come here if you want a hedge fund manager to invest in your startup or something or sell bad pink sheet shares.

Le Rouge officially shut down in Feb 2020. Owner moved to Miami permanently to snort coke off baked silicon tits.

PE/Lido girls mostly come 10pm-1130pm when Sapphire 39 closes. Most men are very young and bring their own bitches and order bottles and never get songs unless a dancer calls the guy out he is broke infront of his wifey. Too much 1Oak/Magic Hour, not enough strip club.

Im surprised nobody mentioned WNC (promoter split from Masked Nights years ago). WNC has a brown/black/olive women only hiring rule, but "good hair" only/pencil test. WNC is 5 men and a bottle oriented but I've cracked a couple of the girls there over the years. When WNC is slow (girl was de-scheduled) the brown girls shows up at Fetish Affairs and are more open minded.

Fetish Affairs is still my favorite. Half the girls are new each party and quit and never come back, but if you swap numbers with them, you have a dirt cheap sugarbaby that fucks for sushi and korean BBQ.

FA has their shitty schedule tho. Goto CLVT if FA closed or DHT if you dont wanna deal with russians gold diggers. FA if you wanna go shopping on tryst and seeking.

Thank you @s88 for the informative response; I very recently found out that MN and CLVT had their event at the same time and at the same venue, which was later used by FA.

Do you mind expanding MBV, DONY, AMP, and WNC? Of these I think I am able to make out MBV, but I'd like to be sure.

Thanks S88 for the continued contributions on the NYC lap dance party scene.
Had a couple follow up questions you could enlighten us on.

Is CLVT still running out of Sapphires? Whereabouts is the FA location - general area is fine? What’s the mask situation at the parties these days?

CLV rented for two months in 2018 a regular low end Manhattan strip club and never again. Lido/le rouge room is a brand name that is auctioned off to regular strip clubs, by the month, highest bidder wins. It does not exist anymore as a list of dancers or a fixed set of rules as an experience. Only 25% of all people wear masks at a private party. At Show Palace Queens 100% of dancers and staff wear masks all night no customers wear masks. In New Jersey you will be slipping $1 bills under plexiglass to girls on stage fall 2020. Masks always on if you are a man.

FA and CLV are lower Manhattan nowadays. CLV will probably return to renting regular restaurants by May 16th or June one or July one. CLV mgmt is against renting private lofts for personal view differences. But due to combining with many other now extinct lap dance parties I'm not sure CLV even exists anymore. It's owner comes in only once a month. The different promoters at CLV do a good job so the PLs don't know there are 5 different names and 5 different owners for the party depending which email list you signed up with. DFK in dance area is still allowed. I prefer FA more tho, as that is an Eyes Wide Shut party with hookah 😀

We need to learn how these private party venues are set up. We need the software, the paper work. We need to see what people sign, and how people are instructed, to make sure that if LE challenges it, that they will have to accept it as a private party, and not as a retail business.

If we can do this, we can have it as good as it is in Tijuana.

And s88, I am most pleased to see that you have been a pioneer in building a bridge from retail strip clubs to this private party model.

Enforcing the alcohol rules requires just an executive action. If you want to fight it you have to hire a lawyer and sue. And so far courts have always upheld every line of the alcohol rules. And most of the operative restrictions are things which have been added to the alcohol rules. Certainly like this here.

If lots of general rules are added, that could be seen as a free speech abridgement. And the only reason we have strip clubs is that high courts have found constitutional free speech rights.

    https://diva.sfsu.edu/collections/sfbatv…

But if they make the rules specifically part of the alcohol rules, or in the special rules they make for "Adult Entertainment", then they are not constitutional abridgements.

To enforce against a club on the basis of the prostitution law would be very hard. For one thing it requires proof beyond a reasonable doubt, because it is a criminal case.

And under any circumstances the prostitution law is very hard to enforce. Usually they are only able to do it by bullying defendants into pleading guilty, or by things like CA law which says, "loitering with intent to engage in prostitution". This later is clearly unconstitutional. But it is the only way LE can do anything to placate neighborhood people. I have watched SJPD shaking people down for no other crime than sitting at a bus stop while female.

With this private party model the alcohol license goes away, so also do all of these state and local ordinances, and the law against public sex and lewdness. It is very hard for LE to get a political mandate to try and enforce on the prostitution law in that environment.

It also gets you out of things like CA-AB5, which is likely to spread to other states, and this destroys the gig economy.

So we need the software, all the policy statements and everything else so we know how to do it!
