My First Audition at an NYC Strip Club

Tuesday, January 12, 2016 12:00 AM
I am a new upcoming dancer in the NYC/NJ area. After doing all the research possible and buying shoes and clothes, I decided to finally go and try out. I wanted to go to New York Dolls. I hopped on the bus then subway. I went in during the day for an audition around 1pm. The club is right by the subway on Murray St making it an easy commute. The doorman outside was welcoming, as well as the coat check girl and the security guard inside. Carpeted floors of course, with full bar to the left, and 3 pole stages to the right. Was only about 3 or 4 customers at the time. I met the manager and she guided me downstairs to get changed. I was very nervous. The house mom downstairs was very welcoming and the dancers as well. The dancers were BEAUTIFUL and EXTREMELY NICE. As i changed, I began to feel at ease. Back on the main floor, there is a curtain that leads to the lap dance area where there are couches, tables and a stage with 4 poles. The manager told me to get on stage and take my dress off. I wasn't as scared as I thought I would be. I felt a little awkward and wasn't quite sure how to move my body but I winged it. Audition went well and just waiting for a call back. Overall is a nice and clean club and everyone is friendly and welcoming. The dancers are absolutely stunning and very very nice people. I will be auditioning at other clubs in NYC but I prefer day shift being that I am just beginning. Will keep you updated.

Should you get the job, you may want to be a little careful around all those dancers that are "absolutely stunning and very very nice people". Once you are in the competitive loop for the same dollars, some of those girls may not seem so nice after you find a few 9 inch heels in your back. At least that is the impression I have gotten over the years of listening to dancers bitch about one another.

Take IwillLapAdancer's advice. Be friendly with the other girls, but don't let your guard down, I am a dancer myself and have met my fair share of other dancers who will be nice to your face but quick to turn around and say stuff behind your back, especially if you are new and end up doing better than them. (jealousy flares up quick)

HAHAHA, NY Dolls? That's the most BORING club in NY. You won't make shit there because all of us from NY knows how incredibly boring that club is, how few girls are in that club and how few patrons are in that club throughout the day. Generally there are like TWO middle-class men there and your lucky if one is upper middle-class. Your NEVER gonna get a VIP from ANYONE there because the VIP is super expensive. Not even a wealthy man would pay $600 for a 30 minute VIP. I know this because I live in NYC and went there a few times always hoping for something good along the way. If you have a willowy figure, then you'll fit right into their mold of women. And though I'm black, I will tell you, if you aren't comfortable working with black women, then your in luck because there's literally only one black woman every few months. Then again its usually 10 women at most all day. You're better off at Diamond's and that one sucks too, but you at least get better suckers who will expect dances on the floor like crazy. The dancer rotation is ridiculous too. Every few months someone' always leaving permanently. Your better off at one of the sister clubs than Dolls. Or just go to Gallaghers 2000 in Astoria. You can make better money, be willowy and still get dances AND VIP, since their affordable. And you have a better chance of creating regulars. Same goes for any other club OUTSIDE manhattan.

But the perks are, patrons are respectful of touching or not. Though bouncers help immensely. The touching rule in Manhattan varies but I know for a fact that Dolls allow touching below the belt, but if you say not at all to a patron, they generally respect it.

@Esta, If no wealthy guys were ready to pay 600$ for 30 min VIP, then Manhattan clubs wouldn't survive. @OP, shit clubs like Diamonds or NY dolls are for illegal gals like me only - almost every decent club in Manhattan(except Flash) requires social so assuming that you are American, I would suggest to try Rick's. Rick's and its sister club Vivid has no/low tolerance to extras by comparison with the rest of Manhattan. It's fairly busy and has lots of well-off customers. Although you might want to gain a little bit of experience first. Gallaghers2000 ain't bad but wouldn't be my first choice if I were you.

@Dancer95 I hear Dolls barely survives and only because its part of a chain. That and its rotation is ridiculous. In 2013 one of the doorman/bouncer one told me it was close to bankrupt. I honestly hoped it did because it was such a terrible club IMO. But at least 4 wealthy men a month must do it justice along with the drink quota. I think it makes it money off of that because I actually gave away a drink (it was the middle of the afternoon and I'm not a heavy drinker anyway) to a regular blue collar and funny story, even the bartender was shocked to the point where she actually asked did blue collar force me to give it away. I said no, I just don't drink and the gentlemen thanked me. I only bought it because it was cheaper than the water (WTF) and it was a mandatory 2 drink policy I believe. So yeah.

@dancer95 RIck's ain't bad. I went in there and saw some cute ladies, but I didn't have enough money at the time (when I was 21...I'm 24 now) so I just got a dance and left the scene. Haven't been back though because it had the stigma of being in manhattan. And manhattan is known to be good only to the VERY VERY affluent/non-frugal. And I am the frugal master. Didn't know you were in NY my dear. Gallaghers2000 wouldn't be a first choice either, but these days they crack down very hard on no touching ESPECIALLY at night, so do with that information what you will, but according to recent reviews, that sort of legal tactic isn't doing the club any favors right now. But hey, you don't have to worry about ugly, disgusting guys rubbing all over your body eh? Almost forgot. Around 4PM-5PM (good perk for ladies, bad for patrons) there's a 2 for one dance special, but they will teach the ladies how do two in such sort succession, it'll just be one. So you really aren't losing any money. So don't get scared by the deal. The songs are super shortened for you

Yeah, I am in New York.:) I was told that Gallaghers has always been that way though, i.e. no-touching policy. But i thought it was that way during nights only. Not that you would want to grope most of broads working day-shifts at G2000 though, lol.

interesting how some clubs and girls operate. imo girls should allow some touching and contact on the stage... you could guide the tippers hands... when working the tip rail. and the best outfit is none. just nice shoes.
