Dropped by on a Sunday night. I like Sundays because they are slow and laid back. This place is really crowded and rocking on Friday and Saturday nights, but there are too many young guys and batchelor parties. Like in many of the clubs, many of the best girls stay away because they can't make good money from the young guys.

There were about 100 customers and about 25 dancers. The dancers ranged from 6 to 8.5 in attractiveness. In general, they are not as good looking as the ones at Treasures, but better than the ones at almost any other Houston club. They also don't expect to be paid as handsomely as Treasures' dancers. On Sundays, they close off the upstairs (so the club does not appear too empty).

The cover is pretty high, $15, which includes a $5 Texas state sin tax. Most clubs have not been collecting, because the law is still tied up in courts, but the St. James has been proactive about it. Drinks are pretty expensive. Beers are $7, and shots and cocktails can run about $10.
