Located in a sleepy farm town a stone’s throw from the U.S. border, Diane follows Quebec’s unusual trend of putting what are essentially hostess clubs outside of the big city of Montreal. I arrived early Friday evening and rang the buzzer. The club’s layout is fairly standard for this type of place. The large central room had a bar and an unoccupied pole-dance stage, while a second room offered pool tables and video machines. A Labatt’s ran $2.75 plus tip. Cheap.

Dances are the customary $20, and while it’s a relaxed place, you will be pressured for extras. The booths in the back had benches rather than couches, maybe explaining why the prices were cheaper than at the Gentleman. Sonya, a larger Slavic blonde woman with an enhanced figure, offered CBJ for $80 and FS for $160. (Probably not everyone’s cup of tea, but I’m a big guy.) Kind of uncomfortable at first, given the size of the booth, but she made it worthwhile!

Incidentally, my GPS brought me to the Clarenceville border crossing, not to the bigger station at Route 89. Probably not the best choice, given all the boats and RV’s crossing by Lake Champlain, and I’m sure being a single guy at a small border crossing raised some suspicions!
