I love to visit San Francisco, but I haven't posted about SF clubs lately. But nychuck in his 2/5/09 post made me want to chime in. He nailed it! It's like they are stuck in 1978 about many things. In the town where all this was invented you go to a standard club having high expectations but often find primtive rules, bad dancer attitudes, oppresive monitoring and poorly mainted venues. You suddenly realize you can have more fun back home or on the road in other cities which have the cachet of this town. So you decide to upgrade and splurge for the MBOT. But there also, you find the slow pace, lack of vibe and ridiculous dancer pricing that was mentioned previously. It's not the cover--I'll pay that for a unique experience. But make the brand promise and the product/product pricing don't line up. You can order up a high class escort for the evening (not an hour) for the same money you would blow here in an evening's partying. Having said that, everyone should experience this place at least one or two times in their strip club life.
