I stopped in at the Cecil...

I stopped in at the Cecil last night for a couple of drinks after staying away for around 9 months. You can scroll down to my February review to see what pissed me off last time. They moved the bar entrance around to the front of the building, I think to get better control on the door after some "incidents." Cover at 6:45 was still only $3. They scanned my ID, took my picture, gave me a total pat down and searched my bag (my umbrella and my book). I ordered a cream ale, which they had on tap last time, and got a pale ale without being told that I was going to be getting a pale. This visit was not off to a good start.

Fortunately, the quality of the dancers was worth the hassle. I watched four sets over about an hour an a half or so; Lexx, Victoria Rain, Megan Foxx (or Foxxx, or maybe Fawkes) and Stripteaze. The wait between sets was around 3 songs, but it was still early and the Canucks were playing. All of the dancers looked good and put on good shows; Victoria Rain is wicked hawt, and Stripteaze has easily the best stage show on the Vancouver circuit. I think there were at least two other dancers on the evening line up. There were two massage girls working but the private dancers hadn't started work by the time I left. It's worth pointing out that the new entrance arangement keeps the bouncer posted right outside the private dance area, so you can probably expect less than air for your money now. The "dancer rating" on this review is strictly for stage shows and the "value rating" is for the low cover and realtively cheap beer, which is all Vancouver clubs should be rated for anyway.

The crowd was small when I got there, generally older, several couples and a lot of people were eating. By the time I left around 8:30 it was getting more crowded and it was mostly small groups of guys in their 20s coming in. Since that's the type of patron that's been responsible for the aforementioned "incidents," I polished off the last of my beer and hit the bricks after Stripteaze did her robe up. It's not like the stage shows were going to get any better, and I wasn't going to waste my money on a private show since I'm off to Vegas next week anyway.
