Visited Bare Elegance on a Sunday...
Visited Bare Elegance on a Sunday evening; although centrally located near Times Square, it did not seem to be a “destination clubâ€. Entering at street level, you have to go up a flight of stairs, pay the cover charge. At the next level, to the left , is a very small stage, with some tables and chairs.
I was surprised to find myself the only customer in the place. There were about five dancers, all black except one East European. I’d rate them no more than 4-5. Each dancer, one by one, sat next to me and whispered the options available in the private dance area. What was particularly unattractive was the really negative vibe – one girl warned me that only she and her friend would provide full value without up sell, each girl demanded a dollar tip for their lackluster stage dance, when I agreed to a $20 lap dance, the dancer demanded the cash up front. Then she performed the dance with the rest of the girls looking on sullenly.
This is not your typical “gentleman’s club†– the primary intent seems to be to get the customers into the private area. All the time I was there, I saw no other customers. So, given the low “fun factor†I did the only sensible thing – I made my excuses and left for Flashdancers, which was a much better choice.
