Since I had been going to Cheaters Tavern off and on for more than 15 years, I was both happy and yet saddened to see the doors closed a couple of weeks ago... If you had frequented Cheaters you would be familiar with the stench that sometimes arose from the mens washroom where at least one urinal or stall was always out of order for the entire 15 years...LOL...I ventured up to Yonge and Eglinton on Wednesday night to find the name Mystique Lounge now above the entrance....I walked through the doors to find one of the greatest transformations since Pygmalion...The once dingy club with the bad smells and rotting carpet was now an amazingly classy looking room...Gone were the pool table, the big screen tv, the rotting carpet, the bar even changed from an automated system to the bartenders pouring from bottles...instead of tables and chairs there are now armless large chairs and low tables with candles burning, the vip sections for dancing are now partially covered by curtains and are located on the left of the club just after you enter, on the right side near the dj booth and yet another lounge area with 2 seat armless coucs at the rear of the club... I was mystified by the look...A little too dark for my liking but while the club has changed most of the usual girls are still there and some are much better looking in less light...I would recommend this lounge for the enviroment alone now...An attempt to be more upscale is always welcome and the size of this room makes it quite intimate...Check it out I am sure you will be impressed.
