Enlightening evening
Lots of people have reviewed this place and others on the Block, so you know the score. Dingy, scuzzy place. I went there around 9:00 or so. There were maybe 5 dancers and a couple of customers, no one dancing. There was a good-looking young, blonde dancer sitting at the bar, so I sat next to her and ordered a beer (who keeps track of the prices, $6 sounds about right). We started to talk and I ordered her a drink ($25). We had a great conversation about her experiences at this place and others. One thing I learned is that no one bothers to dance anymore. All the money is in the private dances, so who wants to get on stage for a few singles? This gives the place and others on the Block a weird vibe. You've got a stage right behind the bar, but no one's ever dancing on it, and the bar is quiet because no one's running the juke box. Anyway, we talked and talked, and I bought her another drink, and we talked some more. Not once did she touch me or suggest I buy a private dance, though she made it clear that in principle anything goes for a price. So, puzzled, I left and tried out other bars in the area. They were all dead and uninteresting, so after an hour or so I came back to CP. There she was, still sitting at the bar, so I sat with her again, ordered her another drink, and we continued our conversation, this time about how the rest of the Block kind of sucks. Finally I asked her, why haven't you hit me up for a dance? She responded, do you want a dance? Sure, but it helps if there's a little flirting going on beforehand, makes it more interesting. Well, she said, I'm not comfortable propositioning guys in public, but we can have fun in the private room. But I'm here for the fantasy I said, I want you to act like you're interested in me. Don't you lose business by not doing that? No, she said, it's never been a problem. So I thanked her for the conversation and left. Now I think about her all the time.
