I-need-er!
My usual Houston area haunt is the Church on Rankin Rd, but every once in a while I get the urge to explore in search of something new & less usual. On this Friday afternoon, Splendor was the focus of my curiosity. I had previously visited some months ago and the experience was OK, but I was left with the nagging thought that I had not seen Splendor at its finest. Meaning, I had not seen the best possible talent.
First the preliminaries. The establishment has seen better days. The parking lot has large potholes, - drive carefully. The security guard sits outside and seems to collect a paycheck for snoozing. If I had tipped him he probably would have had a heart attack from the shock. Inside, once past the front desk, the main area is cavernous. Indeed, the remnants of a tall waterfall grace the back of the large stage. It wasn't in operation on this Friday afternoon. I'm curious if it ever is.
Beer at the bar was acceptably cold and the price was OK at $8. No smoking is permitted indoors but there's a dedicated area for smokers. I went to investigate as I do occasionally sneak a few puffs. Be prepared to be followed to the smoking area by several girls hoping to meet your acquaintance there. Unfortunately for them, it's bright out there so all of the dancers' imperfections are in clear view. Seems they didn't think of this. The two that followed me for a smoke were low 5's at best. Conversation with them was OK but I was eager to return indoors.
