Tale of Three Visits
OK, this will be a bit awkward in that it's a summary of three afternoon visits on a Monday, Tuesday, and Saturday (not in that order, and not in the same week) from earlier this month.
All the specifics of CB's are well known, so I'll not repeat the obvious. Well, OK, the place is a dump, but either I'm getting used to it, have lowered my low standards, or whatever. It's better than it was a couple years ago in that the furnishings have improved (except for the VIP area) and the lighting is better (as in it's slightly "lighter"). IMO, parking across the street at Jerry's Nugget Casino is still the best play. (I even occasionally give them a little video poker play before walking across the street as sort of a parking fee.) Still no cover before 5:00, and my beer still is $7. Dances are still $25 each or 5-4-100 (only one dancer balked at the "discount").
My first of the three visits was on a Tuesday. I intentionally arrived before noon so I could chat up the bartender to ask about a few specific dancers who had been recommended to me by acquaintences. Telling her to "Keep the change" from a $10 bill seemed to buy her attention for several minutes, although I will say that I've typically found the female bartenders to be much more sociable than the male ones at CB. Anyway, I learned a key piece of information from her about dancers' schedules. She said that the Tuesday and Wednesday daytime lineups consisted mostly of the the very same dancers who are under the direction of the same "manager." Of course, those dancers also also would work other days/nights of no particular schedule.
