Dayshift... yikes

I had a long layover at MCI on a Monday afternoon. 5 hours. I figured it was just enough time to squeeze in a quick run to a club to check one more off the old tuscl list. None of the options looked that great so I went with the one with the highest overall score. I know that Monday at 2pm isn't exactly primetime but I've been to plenty of clubs during off hours. I can confidently say that this was one of the worst dayshifts I've experienced.

I grabbed a rental car and headed downtown. Bazooka's is on a wide street. Not all the busy to my eye but maybe it is KC busy. The club is on the lower level of a 3-4 story building. There's a parking lot for the club. Looked to be some unhoused folks hanging out in the far corner. Don't leave any valuables in the car. There seems to be an adult shop up the escalator in the lobby. I didn't feel the need to check it out. I went inside and paid the doorman a $25 cover (seemed steep for a Monday afternoon but I didn't have time to go anywhere else) and was told that there's a bar next door if I wanted to get a drink. Sounded like a good idea so I headed over for a Jack and Coke. Returned to Bazooka's a few minutes later and entered the club proper.

I found myself in a medium sized club. Very high ceilings, a medium sized rectangular stage along the wall to your left with chairs along the front edge and a few low tables just back from those sears, bathrooms tucked back behind you at your 7 o'clock, DJ booth behind a pillar dead ahead. To your right there is a couple of steps then more seating. At your 5 o'clock is the curtained VIP area.
