I was a bit disappointed by Booby Trap

I had been looking forward to checking out Booby Trap on the River for a while since I’d heard so much hype around it. Unfortunately, my experience didn’t really live up to the reputation. First off, the cost to get in was steep, my girl and I felt like we’d already spent a small fortune before even stepping inside. $40 each for entry, and then drinks were also rather expensive.

Once inside, I realized pretty quickly that it wasn’t the type of strip club I was expecting. There were no real private dances, which for me is a big part of the appeal. Instead, the vibe was much more like a nightclub, lots of bottle service, hookahs, and a focus on table culture, with a couple women walking around. If you’re into that scene, it might hit right, but for me it felt like it was missing the classic strip club atmosphere.

To be fair, the women were definitely attractive, black and latina mostly, probably more my speed visually compared to other spots I’ve been to. That said, there just wasn’t much opportunity to really interact beyond watching them on stage. After a while, my girl and I decided to cut our losses and head over to Tootsies, where we ended up having a much better time.
