I went to Gallaghers 2000 for the first time on a recent Thursday evening. I’d say overall, it wasn’t a bad club experience — though very different than the more upscale NYC area spots a few train spots away.

The club is in a bit of an older residential neighborhood in Long Island City, maybe a 5 min walk away from the 7 train. It’s a bit quiet relative to other parts of LIC, but I didn’t feel unsafe necessarily. Inside I stepped through a metal detector, paid a $10 cover, and was on my way. The club layout has been described but the stage is on your left after you walk in, and the entire right side of the room is totally unused (and had some cardboard boxes - almost as if it could be used for something eventually but hasn’t yet). The stage area reminds me a little more of an old school bar than a strip club

I ordered a $12 corona and took a seat by the stage. There’s a pretty strong dollar parade every time each set of two songs finishes on stage (two dancers on stage each set). So I found myself running short on dollars pretty quickly.
