After about a year and a half off my SC journeys in the city, finding I have the time again for my weekly show and club outing.

FlashDancers Midtown is close to all the Bway Theaters and Time Square but once you get past and around the tourists it's okay. You'd think the clientele here would skew more touristy but not really. My constant complaint for this place is that it's dark, I'm never gonna get used to that. It's difficult to see the girls dance on the barely there main stage. Mostly they walk around but sometimes there's some good effort and I do like rewarding good effort. There are two more small stages on the bar side which a dancer can barely stand on. You've got to turn away from the bar to see them and more often than not, they get blocked from view by club management cluelessly walking in front of them and stopping. I had a fun moment with a dancer when this happened at a recent visit and we both craned our necks to see each other around this guy who just stopped to chat with someone and blocked her from view. We had a good bunch of LDs after that.

Some other specifics, $20 (night) cover, $3 (per item) mandatory coat check. Thankfully my hat and jacket counted as one but on another night paid an extra $3 for my umbrella. One of my big gripes this time around, drink prices. I had 2 Dewars, on the CC, included Tax AND 20% tip. My bill came back at over $50. Next visit I only got one, full cost for a single drink (on CC mind you) was over $25 all in. What's annoying about this is I had just come from a Broadway Show where I paid THEIR inflated prices for a DOUBLE JW Black, in a souvenir cup no less (which I threw out), and it was $43 with tax and tip. My other gripe is the $800 50(!) minute VIP with what seems to be no other option. The dancer who brought it up promised a "lack of" rules in there but that's just out of my reach in discretionary spending. I did a $400 30m at Rick's on 34th St once and I'd say that is the most I'd give in too.
