Just A Drop In On Friday Afternoon
Club Desire is a smallish club, located down the street from Providence Hospital. Its actually two clubs in one: Club Desire occupies the bottom floor, and Club Lust is a more upscale, members only club, that occupies the third floor. I've only been up to Lust once, on a tour, back before the renovations. Club Lust includes a sit down restaurant, and I'm told the food is very good. I don't remember seeing a stage, and so I don't think any dancing goes on up there; might be wrong about this. Membership is $300 a quarter, and you get most of that back as a food/drink credit. I imagine that this is a bargain if you live in the area, and stop in often. I live a good while away, and so this wouldn't work for me. Other TUSCL contributors are members, so please look over their reviews, if you want more details; my reviews focus on Club Desire, and this one amalgamates three afternoon visits.
Parking lot is substantial, but fills up fast; considering that the dancers and employees park there too, I'd say that a good 20% of the spaces fill up by 1pm. Since I usually get there early, this has never been a problem for me, but on a busy day (or, when I get there later), I do need to park farther away from the entrance. They have valet parking, so if you aren't game to hunt around for a space, just toss the valet your keys, and he will take care of your car, for you. Once in the club, you go down a long hallway, with a metal detector; phones, keys and watches will set it off, so plop those on the small table before you go through. Walk through the glass doors, and you are in.
Most of the club is taken up by two square bars, each seating about 20 patrons. The main stage is at one end of the room, and small tables are spread out between the stage and the bar. There is a rather large side stage on the right hand side of the club, and I'm told this gets used at night. During the day, I have only seen it used for auditions. There is a large TV behind this stage, usually tuned to a game. There are a couple other TVs around. If things get quiet, its nice to be able to watch a game or see whats happening in the market. There is always a free lunch available, and today they were serving sausage and peppers. On Sundays, it always meatballs, and they never agree with me, so I skip lunch on Sundays. Soon, they will start to serve hamburgers and hot dogs on the patio. They are pretty good, but I don't stop by for the food.
