A downscale option, but an option none the less

In continuing my recent kick of hitting up the lower end clubs in the area, I made a few trips to Porthole. I had to pick a day, so I picked Saturday but this review covers a couple of visits in the mid to late afternoon, arriving around 3-6 and leaving 4-8 or so.

The location is easy to find, in a shopping center. There is a large parking lot but it can be packed and people are kinda haphazard to assholeish in their parking and driving. No charge to park during the day, no valet available much less required. No cover during the day, sometimes they have a security guy doing pat downs and other times they don't. As others have noted, the place is small and was renovated not too long ago. Bar on one side, stage on the other, a few benches/sections and a few high top tables for seating. It's not particularly fancy nor clean. Music is mostly rap, but with some influx of latin flavor in the music to go along with the influx of latin dancers. The vibe is usually pretty laid back during the day, music at a tolerable volume and crowds minimal. They don't usually have a waitress and the bartender can be busy, so you've gotta find a hole and belly up to the bar to get a drink and service is a bit hit or miss. Beers are $5-7, drinks are 12-18ish. I think but am not sure they still up-charge a couple bucks for dancer drinks.

The stage rotation varied on the days I was there. Some days they had girls doing 3 songs alone, other days they had two girls at the same time each doing three songs, and other times they had a one song overlap with two girls and then two songs solo. It's technically a topless club, but some girls didn't bother taking anything off on stage and some girls flashed their pussies a bit. They still do 2-4-1 dances periodically, but seemingly substantially less frequently than they did before. I also noticed a lot more girls pitching the $10 barside dances than ever before. Previously, most girls seemed hang out with you until the next $25/song 2-4-1 was called, then make a pitch for the private dances. The private dance area hasn't changed, it's still the curtained area shared with two couples with one single couple stall available for a 3-4-100 that almost no girls ever try to sell and a 30 mins for $100 + tip room that few girls pitch either.
