Scouting Harrisburg - No Reason to Explore the Savannah Any Longer
For those of you who have never visited Harrisburg, let me help you out by listing all of the good things that Harrisburg has going for it: 1) it's got a big Bass Pro Shops store. OK, now to my visit...
Driving into downtown Harrisburg at night, the capitol building is lit up on a hill and becomes a directional beacon over the river. I thought I'd see if I could pick-up a civilian before deciding to go to the strip club, and at least I thought it would be fun to start the evening with a good cocktail. I decided to have my starter cocktail at a bar called the Sturges Speakeasy. There is nothing "speakeasy" about it on the busy street, and cocktails were "small-town good." The women out on the town here seemed to dress up in the same flirtatious outfit of a Kirkland fleece and a backwards truckers hat covering unwashed hair. The other women didn't even try. So, it was off to Savannah's.
Savannah's is about a 5 minute drive from the capitol, and the white building stands out on approach with a well-lit driveway. Cover was $10. You can't bring a cell phone with you unless you have some time of an annual membership or if you pay an extra $20 phone fee. I had known about that from TUSCL and I left mine in the car.
