Weird, but better than expected experience
Let me start with the club name. The club is located on a main thoroughfare about three miles out of town in an industrial area. It is not located near downtown Salt Lake City, and walking this distance could be managed but would be dangerous and unpleasant as the sidewalk ends at some point. If you think “downtown” is intended to refer to dancers and patrons going “down” on each other, there is absolutely no chance of that or any other dancer-patron contact. Remember this is Utah. “Southern” is also misleading. The club is located north of SLC and is not like any club found outside Utah. Fortunately the “xposure” part is true at this fully nude club.
I visited on a Friday night and arrived around 10:00 pm after a Jazz game. There was no one at the door to check my ID and take my cover payment so I proceeded into the club. This was my first clue about how loosely the club is managed. Most clubs will make a show of security at the entrance to keep the knuckleheads in line, to provide an air of security for the paying staff and working girls, and to establish a sense of elegance. Not here. The non-dancer staff are indistinguishable from the patrons and are not very attentive to the user experience. It comes across as extremely casual.
I had my ID scanned by the bar staff, paid the $22 cover, and purchased a water ($4). The bar is directly ahead of the entrance with the club space to the right of the bar. The club does not have alcohol or ice though the bottled drinks are refrigerated. The club has two stages that were in continuous use during my visit. A real positive for this club is that there is no down time between performers. The “cage” stage is by the bar. It is small and is completely enclosed by an assemblage of hand rails forming monkey bars that the dancers use in their performance. They sit on, twirl around and hang from these bars whose main purpose is to create a formidable barrier between the dancers and patrons. This stage is only a couple feet off the floor and has club chairs for patrons around this fully enclosed platform except for the spot where the dancers enter. The “DJ” stage is further into the club, is elevated to about 4’ off the floor, has two accessible sides for patrons where bar stools are positioned, and is also edged by a handrail system. Unlike the “cage” stage the rails end about 3’ above the stage. The dancer’s make good use of these rails in their performances and they do not obstruct the view much. Neither stage has a pole. Of the two stages, the “cage’ stage seemed to be more popular, but the patrons would migrate from stage to stage depending on the quality of the dancer.
