Lackluster Clubs in Lackluster Market

I am going to combine commentary on two clubs: Vanity and Columbus Gold. They are in separate, free-standing buildings adjacent to each other in northwest Columbus. You could easily crawl on your hands and knees from one club to the other, if you were so inclined. It’s a good opportunity to get two clubs under your belt if, like me, you are new to the Columbus SC scene (such as it is).

From the outside, Columbus Gold seems larger and likely to be more opulent, but looks can be deceiving. I hit Vanity first, probably because it had music playing outside (not the music playing on stage) and I thought it might be more fun. Clever marketing.

$20 cover at 11:30 pm on a Thursday. The first clue that Vanity was the snootier of the two. Bar was crowded. Stage is off to the left as you enter in a separate, wide open room. Elevated stage, like a theater, surrounded by lots of tables.
