A typical night at a Calgary strip club

Blondies is the best strip club in Calgary, although that's not saying a lot.

It is a small club that can hold about a hundred to two hundred customers with a single stage. The decor is minimalist and looks more like a warehouse than a high end club. Cover price is $8, and beers are $9. Calgary clubs make most of their money from VIP dances. While some of the dances do stage and VIP dances, others are only VIP dancers. On any given night you find 15 to 30 girls. Most of the girls are 6 to 8 range, and most are from early to late 20's. Almost all Canadian dancers are white girls. Stage dancers do 5 song sets and get totally naked after about 3 songs. The last song they spend hawking mechandise and encouraging customers to throw coins at them. VIP dances cost $35 a piece and dancers keep about half of that while the club gets the other half. Dancers can be tipped and they keep all their tips. The club collects money for the dances up front. The dancers get to keep their tip money right away, but does not collect their half of the dance fee until the end of the night. Dances last 3 minutes each. Dancers generally push to get one half hour to one hour sets. When you buy these longer sets, you will access to their better rooms. There are 3 large dance rooms and about 10 small ones which are closet size. The privacy is good with curtains in front of the rooms. So recently Alberta laws have become more lax, and full lap dances are allowed rather than air dances. The girls are allowed to give you full contact lap dances, and you are allowed to touch them also. The positive is that the dancers will get totally naked. The negative is that the dances are expensive compared to the cost and the level of contact you can get elsewhere in Canada and the US. The amount of touching will depend on the girl, and you will generally get better dances if you tip more or if you are a repeat customer. The dances are fun but do not cross the line with any extras. You also cannot bring any alcoholic drinks into the dance rooms. You can buy bottle service but you must drink at booths at one side of the club in which you cannot get dances. Also, by Alberta law, you are not allowed to pour drinks from your own bottles but must let the waitress do so. I hung out with a couple of dancers I am friendly with, and bought a few rounds of drinks. Each round cost about $30. These two girls are about the top of the line for this club. They are generally featured as the cover girls for their advertisements so I would rate them pretty highly (8-9). They are young and slim, and pretty. Unlike American girls, most of the Calgary dancers have a lot of tattoos. One of them had only had a few on the legs and arms, while the other one was heavily tattooed. I also did some sets of double dances with them which cost $700 plus tips for every half hour. (1 Canadian dollar = about 0.70 US, so this is about $500 US) I spent about 3 hours with them in total, mostly drinking. As you see it can get pretty expensive.
