Old School Time at Richard's Rendezvous
Visiting Richmond for a long weekend and I was staying in Scott's Addition so I checked out Richard's Rendezvous. Old-school low hassle place with a chill vibe. All in all where you can mind your own business and look at some dancers. l was not expecting much in Virginia, so I was pleasantly surprised, I would go back.
THE BASICS: easy to find stand-alone building in an out-of-the-way corner of Scott's Addition. Free, large, dimly lit parking lot but it feels safe. Cover was $10 (around 11PM on Saturday night) which you pay to the bouncer. Bouncer was friendly, asked if I had an ID but he didn't need to see it. Bottled beers for $6, and you can get $1s from the bartender with no fee. DJ (yes! a real live DJ!) in a booth overlooking the stage in the middle of the room, stools around the rail and booths line the outside walls. A very small stage with a pole in a back corner, surrounded by a curtain which I saw some girls go and use (for practice?) Bathrooms were reasonably clean for a strip club. Weird rules they enforced were no cell phones if you are sitting along the rail, and you can't bring your beer into the bathroom. Good size crowd, mostly younger frat-boy types, some shy guys in the booths, and a few older customers; zero thug factor.
THE GIRLS: Because there is a DJ, the girls do their stage show for a fixed amount of time, seemed like 10-15 minutes. Pasties only and not a lot of pole tricks because it's a short pole, but every girl made it a point to interact with all the guys sitting around the rail. The culture seemed to be to toss a few bucks for every song, and I went through about $80 in ones over my 3-hour stay. I liked the stage show, got some good views and they weren't shy about coming over. Dancers were all white and one hispanic bombshell (Alejandra). I sat with Fawn who was a blonde and a good conversationalist. Other notable was Hayley, a tattooed curvy brunette. Those were my top three, next time I go back I will probably get dances from them. Zero hustle from the girls, they all seemed content to do their stage show and then hang out. Was quoted $125 for 10 minutes but I left to check out Papermoon (bad decision) instead of sticking around for dances this time. To be fair, I didn't see any other customer get dances either.
