Échappé at the Jay Ballet
I'm glad that this place exists. It is the most rural club in Northern New England, and represents tremendous value. It has a very different aesthetic from both the cabarets and dive bars found in MA and RI. There is the main stage, a cage, gymnast rings, and at least two stripper polls in in the seating/bar area. The main stage has a DJ prescribed rotation of dancers, but all the other amenities are used when dancers feel like it. There's a single TV showing the most important sporting event of the evening, and a wall decorated with old record covers. Naughty art abounds.
Safety and Logistics: The club is located in an area with plenty of good outdoor activities including biking. Getting to the club on a bike from nearby hotels wouldn't be at all strenuous, but safety may be a concern as I doubt locals are used to sharing the road with cyclists after dark. In terms of driving, I chatted with a dancer about the local po-po; she told me they were board and looking for people to harass. I drove home with cruise control on. While vaping outside my hotel room an hour after the club closed, I still saw cruisers patrolling back and forth. On entry they wand you down and remind you to leave hunting gear and fishing knives in the car. All the locals are friendly, but it is still a good thing considering the amount of alcohol that was flowing. Regarding significant other safety: the club is relatively light on perfume, but they give you a hand stamp that takes many washings to fade.
Prices: Cover is $10. Water is $3 Both good and garbage beer are $6 a bottle. Dances are $10/song. There is a $10 fee each time you enter the common lapdance room, but you can also choose to have a dance on the floor. Girls set their own prices for VIP. I was quoted $150 by one, which she said was worth it because "I can remove my panties in VIP." Another dancer quoted me the astonishing rate of $400 for 15 minutes. I don't go for extras, but that number was so absurd that I had to inquire what would justify it when 15 minutes in the lapdance room would come to about $40-$50. Also, I don't think she was using that price as a way to avoid selling me the room, because she approached me and led with it.
