Looking for some "new friends"
I'm a daytime guy, and this visit was about noon to 2:00 on a recent Friday. For any readers who are new to this old place, here's a lay of the land summary: As you enter you might get stopped for ID, but that has been going by the wayside lately, at least in the early afternoon when I'm typically there. Upon entering there's a stage to the left, but it's virtually never used in the daytime. Also left but further back is the sad excuse for a bathroom. It's bad, really bad. Straight ahead is the bar, with the VIP area further back and slightly off to the right. To the far right is what seems to be the primary stage; at least it certainly is during the daytime. There's a fairly small seating area (some chairs/tables, plus benches along the wall) in front of the narrow stage. The stage often goes unused until 1:00 or so.
Enough with the geography lesson. I typically have 3-4 dancers who I find mostly to be enjoyable, but sometimes rather pushy. This was a Friday visit, so I knew that most of them would be there. My typical budget of about $200 would allow me to get sets of 5-4-100 from two different gals. However, my intent on this visit was to avoid my regulars and instead try to expand my horizons by trying out some new talent by getting individual $25 dances with 4-5 gals who were new to the scene or had been there awhile but I just never got acquainted with.
My game plan worked, at least sort of. I successfully fended off overtures from my regulars, even when they resorted to the ever-enticing stripper handshake. Instead, I was hoping to find a diamond in the rough, but it ultimately turned out to be mostly to no avail. Three were Cubans and one was Guatamalan. I have no Spanish skills, so communication is often difficult, as it was with all four of these gals. One Cuban's name sounded like Melanie, Mallory, Millie, or something like that. Otherwise, asking their names proved futile. All were reasonably shapely, and none of their "tryout dances" were terrible, but neither were they the kind that suggested I should switch over to a set of 5 dances. In short, I simply didn't find a gal who I'd want to have as a "new regular."
