Scouting trip to The Hippo
I hadn't been to the Peppermint Hippo in maybe a year, and I wanted to see how things had changed. I arrived at the club at just about midnight, noting as I pulled in that there weren't a lot of cars in the lot. The parking lot itself is decent size, and is well-lit, and I've always felt safe parking there.
The friendly bouncer dude met me at the door with a cheerful greeting, as if we were old pals, and then he patted me down for any knives or guns his old buddy might have brought. The pretty girl at the coat check window charged me $15 for cover, and since I'd left my coat in the car, I skipped that part. It's probably a couple of bucks for coat check.
I'm sure the place has been described a thousand times, but here's the general layout. As you enter the door, the DJ's booth is straight ahead. Turn to the right and there's the 2-pole stage taking up the middle of the room, and on the east (I think) side of the room is the bar, the entrance to the dancers' locker room, as well as the bathrooms.
