My Luck Ran Out

I was meeting friends at a happy hour in a bar exactly midway between Vivid and Rick's Cabaret. I've had some good times here and thought I'd try it again since it had been so long. Maybe it was because it was early but I've had plenty of good experiences at clubs when it was early. I don't know what their excuse could be but geeze was this bad. It was bound to happen. I've been singing the praises of the NYC clubs lately and it was about time I hit a dud. Just surprised and disappointed that this was the place.

I got in around 7:45. $20 cover with a 2 drink minimum, free coat check and the place was empty, no one on stage. 2 other PLs at the bar. 1 dancer talking to one of the PLs. Doorman walked me to the bar to be sure I ordered a drink. Long and narrow, bar in the back. I think there have been some minor cosmetic upgrades. Still incredulous though at how empty it was and thinking I made the wrong choice, which of course I did. Lady Bartender was very friendly and started a bit of chat. I liked her. After a bit, thick Caribbean comes over and sits next to me. Not my type but there doesn't seem to be anyone else here so fine, start chatting. (Turns out I'd rather be back talking with the bartender). I'm out for one place tonight and think I have to make this work. I get what I think will be a couple of dances. Yeah, what'd you expect, lackluster all the way, she's saying she's sexy but I ain't feeling it. Half way through song 2, DJ seems to make some mistake and music cuts off, it's silent for minutes. Carib chick is singing the song herself. Music pops back on with a new song. I'm done after that, she says it was 3 and oh, it's after 7pm, dances are $25. I'm not believing half this shit but now I just want to be done with this ROB.

She heads away with some food she ordered and I get a big boned latina come calling. Again thinking I've got to make the best of this. I get a couple of dances from her. Maybe she's a little better. She starts pushing VIP and promises all sorts of things, I decline. I get 2 she takes the 2 $20s, no complaint. A few other girls have come out, sitting around. It's just more of the same. I've got to cut my losses and leave. Can't believe this is a Rick's club, which gets me thinking. Maybe I can still squeak some time in at the Cabaret since I have to walk that way anyway. Hopefully it's better, I mean, it's Friday night!
