Crazy loud, smokey, unpleasant atmosphere, but some high mileage dances
I want to like Diamond, if only to have somewhere to go besides Vivide that provides a similar experience. I've tried it a few times now, and each time there have been elements that worked enough for me to go back. But I've always been at least conflicted and this last visit was more sour than not.
Diamond was a short ride from downtown. It's right on a highway exit, so it can take longer to get to/from than Vivide because of traffic (and on my trip out the driver missed the exit and had to circle around). They have a biggish lot. There was a sign for valet, but I didn't notice the price. Cover was $10 after a cursory pat down. Inside, water was $5 or $6, and a shot was about $9, similar to the other clubs I've tried in Atlanta.
The club was smaller than Vivide or Goldrush, with a lower ceiling. The latter made it feel smaller yet, and made the smoke a much bigger problem. The space was essentially a long rectangle, with bars on either end, a small stage, booths on either wall, and a few tables. The booths under the TVs were unpleasant both because of the glaring TV and because the bench, or the TV itself, sticks into your back. The other booths were a bit better, and are more divided than those at Vivide. If the club isn't busy, you can get a floor dance that's not right next to a bunch of other people.
