Will Not Return
Was in the area on business and looking for a high mileage club to try out. So I headed to Porthole Pub.
It is in the corner of a medium sized horseshoe shaped strip mall. Parking spots are hard to come by and the spots are tight. I drove around 2-3 times and finally squeezed into a small spot. Walked into the club - very dark so eyes had to adjust. No cover during the day, and the beer was $4. Bartender friendly and nice. That's about the best part of the review. Most of the dancers (there were probably about 10) were either well past their prime or did not have the looks or the body to be a dancer. I honestly don't think a single woman working there was better than a 5 on a 1-10 scale, and that's being generous. Most of the dancers were hanging with their regulars, trying to get a free drink or two out of them. I didn't see much dancing going on anywhere - and what I did see on the stage wasn't nearly enough to entice anyone to ask for a private dance. I was approached twice in the 30 minutes that I was in the place about private dances - however, no one in the place did it for me. There seemed to be a lot of regulars sitting around the bar - the bartender knew many of the patrons names and there was a friendly banter going around. Maybe this place is more of a local watering hole (like Cheers) then a strip club. Not what I was looking for and not a place I can recommend.
By the way - the shopping center that this place is located in seems a bit sleezy - and the characters that seemed to be hanging around outside the stores didn't appear to be the most upstanding citizens. Not a place I think I would want to be after dark.
