Wednesday Visit at Opening

I stopped by Criket shortly after opening on a Wednesday a few weeks ago. Had business near Dearborn and about an hour and a half to kill, so figured I would see how the talent was right at the start of day shift. Pulled in the free parking lot off Kean St and noticed it was mostly empty.

For those unfamiliar with SC, there is no valet and no cover charge during the day. This is the best club in the area for a quick drop in visit with no financial commitment up front. If it’s a dead scene or there’s no dancers that catch your interest, it’s easy to walk in and then walk right back out. There’s a clean, troll-free bathroom. The staff is friendly and the music is a good variety and not that loud during day shift. Booths have a cost (never get one but I think it’s $20). It’s $10 to use the VIP booths. Several of the booths are very small and cramped, but serve their purpose. The big booth behind the DJ booth no longer has the large love seat/small couch, which bummed me out cuz that was my favorite spot (although it was probably time to get rid of that thing as it was really worn out).

The stage is relatively small with two poles. There’s low top tables all around the stage. I always try to find a spot at the bar, which runs along the east side of the room. There’s very little stage tipping and I’ve never seen more than one dancer on the stage at any given time during day shift. All the action is really happening in the VIP. I always try to tip a few of the dancers even if I’m not interested, as their often up there for 3 songs with almost no tips. I believe regular dances during the day are $20/song but I always negotiate a package deal.
