Visited: Thursday Afternoon

A barker in front of El Zorro encouraged me to enter as I walked past. I told him that I might do so another time, but not immediately. I walked past a second time and he said, “You promised.” I didn’t, but I had read what a pit the place is and I had a little time to kill before a TLN I had scheduled. It was a Thursday afternoon at about 4:30. No cover. No pat down. No ID check. Not located in the Zona core, but on a main street during daylight. It was better than expected, but that wasn’t saying much, as most reviews said that it is full of scary monsters. When I walked in, I noticed that at least everyone was upright; no slumped-over bodies, foul odors, or puke on the floor. Clearly it was early.

The music wasn’t so loud that you couldn’t have a conversation. Bar on the left. Most of the “décor” was red booths/tables, with red lights, and a small stage with a single pole that was not used while I was there. What encouraged me to sit for at least a little while was a few apparent civvie girls (might have been house girls dressed in their civvies) in the back dancing and laughing. There were a few local guys in the booths along the wall on the right side of the room. Looked like two other working girls just hanging out. They were thick, but not repulsive. The four guys in the room were sitting alone, but seemed to be having a good time, some clearly buzzed occasionally getting up and dancing by themselves. The music was mostly rock, but I didn’t pay much attention. Maybe I am weird, but it looked like a fun place and I was getting a good vibe, so I sat down. Worst case, I spend a few dollars to be disappointed.
