My friend and I last went...
My friend and I last went to Ken's Gold Club about a month ago. We had been going there on q regular basis since this summer because we knew a couple of the dancers there, and we'd been imptressed with the place on past visits. We put up with the infamous three-foot rule that was finally implemented in Nashville earlier this year, and the club seemed to be adapting to it as well as could be expected. But on the last visit, the grils were only topless, saying that they were only getting nude for the private dances in an effort to promote them, but the cover charge was still $12.00 at the door, way too steep for only a topless bar, with a 3-foot barrier at that. I suspect these new restrictions stem in large part from polic chief Ronal Serpas's obsession with eliminating "New Orleans, French-quarter style prostitution" in Nashville, for which several clubs were closed two summers ago: I have been to most of the clubs that were closed, and I never saw any such activity goin on. Ironically, the morning after the Cajun top cop was on a local TV news broadcast crowing about this achievement, his son was arrested for his first DUI.
People looking forward to a good time in Music City need to be aware of this new climate of repression foisted on the unsuspecting public by such pandering do-gooders as the councilman from Madison (which has no strip clubs) who originated the 3-foot rule in the first place. Don't get me wrong; Nashville is still a great place to visit, and there are still many beautiful and sensual women at these clubs, but the city's once-vibrant adult entertainment scene is now on life support. These developments are yet another reminder that freedom isn't free.
