I visited the Peppermint Hippo on a Friday night at 23:00. The building is located between a Kum & Go gas station and a Mexican restaurant called La Huerta. There is still signage on the building that says “Cowboy Cabaret”, which was the previous incarnation of this strip club. Before that, it was the Platinum Cabaret. Some of the interior decoration still has a Western theme rather than the standard red and black theme that Peppermint Hippo is known for. The cover charge was $10, paid to Lexi the door girl. The club is currently open Thursday through Sunday from 19:00 to 02:00.

The bar is to the immediate left up a step or two with its back to the south wall. Sincweisers were $6. Jager Bombs were $14. The main stage is a runway that comes off of the back left corner. A second stage is off to the right, but it was not in use. The far right side of the room is where the private dances take place. The washrooms are near the entrance. The bottom of the urinals were three feet off the ground, meaning anyone shorter than 6’4” would have to use an arc shot to avoid pissing all over the floor.

Dancers strip down to topless on stage. They had to wear pasties over their areolas. It didn’t seem like contact was permitted at the stage. Private dances are $25 per song. There is not much privacy and contact is one-way. The VIP rooms have more privacy, and touching the dancers is permitted. Fifteen minutes is $150. Thirty minutes is $300. Sixty minutes is $600. There is also an option where you can get a full hour with a bottle of champagne. One of the bartenders approached me and wanted me to take her and her friend, who was a dancer, back to the VIP room. That would have been $300 total ($150 to each girl) for just fifteen minutes. I declined. The hottest dancers were locked down at tables with regulars. There was one dancer who had one leg entirely tattooed that I found quite attractive, but did not get a chance to pry her away from her regular. I counted six dancers working, but there could have been more. All of the dancers I saw were Caucasian, and five of the six dancers had slim or athletic body types. It seems like every dancer here vapes.
