A Disappointing Visit

I headed out on a recent weekday afternoon with the anticipation of spending 30 minutes with a “strip club” dancer friend. I first wanted to do a little hunting, or fishing, or shopping, or whatever I should call it, first. As it turned out, I would not make it to my final destination, but got a nice surprise at a club I don’t frequent very often (see my Dream On review). My first stop before Dream On was at The Venue. I want to keep the exact day I visited these two clubs to protect a dancer at Dream On since I don’t know who is reading these.

I pulled in to the fairly empty parking lot at The Venue around noon and parked beside an Xfinity van. I was wondering how an employee of a company of that size could get away with stopping at a Strip Club for lunch in an advertised Van. As it turned out, he was actually working and would be the first disappointment of this stop, which I will explain shortly. I like this old Hooters club as the building is an improvement in looks inside and out from all the dive clubs in Portland, yet still has a dive club feel instead of an upscale gentlemen’s club. During this time of day, no bouncer, cover, or ID check. Just to piss off the guy that left a “how to write a review” on gSteph SI review, it was kind of dark when I entered. Don’t take me so seriously, just having a little fun. Wait, if you have ever been in 82nd Strip it is like walking in to a Safeway and need serious dark sunglasses to get that strip club vibe. Back to The Venue and walking in, the main circle stages is straight ahead, lotto machines to the left, and the decent full bar as well as the bathrooms are to the right. There is another stage near the back that I have never seen used as well as the DJ booth and lap dance booths. Plenty of normal and tall tables/chairs scattered around this decent size club. You can order food at this establishment.

As I was walking to the bar to get my $4 coke, there is a totally nude dancer on stage and this god-awful techno beat music playing. Even the dancer looked annoyed and the few customers that were in the club were not at the stage. I like coming around noon as they add another four or five dancers to their rotation at that time. I have a regular dancer here that treats me “extra” special in the lap dance booth. With my intentions of hitting up another dancer at another club, I wanted to make sure The Venue dancer wasn’t dancing today. One my weaknesses, it is hard to say no when a favorite dancer is standing or dancing in front of me batting her eyelashes (okay, C fake tits in my face while her hand is doing some exploring). Anyways, I checked the club’s website and she wasn’t listed, otherwise I would have skipped this club on that day.
