Dayson Was Sweet

I began the Saturday night when I crossed the border on foot around 7:00. I tried to park behind Jack-n-the-box, but there was a big “FULL” sign and a line of cars waiting to get in. If I had joined the line, I would have been hanging out in the street. It has been years since I have driven to the border and parked and never on a weekend, so I went on a hunt for overnight parking and found it at Border Parking. (This will become important upon my return, because El Chaparral (Pedi West) was open and exits a little closer to Border Parking than Pedi East.)

Through the border check, they did not stop me on the Mexican side and didn’t ask for a visa or passport. They just looked at me real hard.

The HK shuttle was in the dirt lot by the walkway, so I woke the driver for my ride to Rizzo. I had a printout of my reservation, and despite being about two hours late, check-in was easy. (It helps that the clerk knows me well.) I even got the same room as the last time I visited. I dumped my gear, verified that the safe and TV worked, and showered.
