I went to Club 77 on a Tuesday night at 22:45 and a Thursday night at 00:45. There was no cover charge on Tuesday, and a $7 cover charge on Thursday. Sincweisers in bottles were $8 on Tuesday. On Thursday night, there was a special for Sincweiser and Sinc Light twelve ounce cans: two for $10. Jager Bombs were $15.25 and included three quarters of an ounce of Jagermeister. The club has a kitchen that stays open until 01:30. The menu is fairly simple with offerings like chicken wings, fries, poutine, and cheese sticks. I ordered a poutine on one visit and it was a decent value. I’m not going to say it was the greatest poutine I have had in the North, but I was so liquored up, it hit the spot.

This place was originally called Bar 77 before it became Club 77. It seems the management changed it from a dive bar into more of a nightclub. On weekend nights, there are more couples and female patrons. The bar runs along the right wall of the club, and this is where most patrons will naturally loiter. The main stage is in the back area of the club with two poles. The left side of the room has five video slot machines, one claw machine, a pool table, and a snack vending machine. The prices were ridiculous in the vending machine; a candy bar was $4. There seems to be two different areas for private dances. One private dance area is to the immediate right between the entrance and the near end of the bar. This area has a row of four booths with curtains covering their openings. The second private dance area is behind the stage. There appears to be at least two booths back there with black curtains covering their openings. I only experienced the booths at the front. There does not seem to be any cameras.

Dancers would go on stage, stripping down to topless. Then they would take a one song break before returning to the stage to strip down to nude. Patrons don’t really tip the stage here. The stage is basically for the dancers to advertise their bodies. Every once in a while a guy would put a $5 bill in his mouth and lay down on the stage. The dancer would use her body to retrieve the tip. The best looking dancers at Club 77 seemed to be darker skinned–of African or of Caribbean origin. Club 77 wasn’t trying to be an urban club, but I surmised some of the other strip clubs in the metro area, like Le Pigale and Barefax, had stricter face control. About half of the dancers at Club 77 were white and the other half were first or second generation immigrants from African or Caribbean countries. Below is a sampling of a few of the dancers working. I would have documented more, but DJ’s are hard to understand, and even harder to understand when French is not your first language.
