friday night
This is our usual club of choice but this night someone in our group suggested a different venue, which turned out to be a waste of time. We left that place after 30 minutes and hopped in a cab that took us to the Rhino.
No line when we got there and we each (3 of us) paid the $43.60 cover charge. Wish they'd make it a round number, no idea how they settled on the 60 cents. After paying the entrance fee we had to wait in a small line behind a velvet rope (very classy). An employee I didn't recognize was really selling us hard on getting a bottle. Told us they were expecting several large parties soon and if we wanted a table we had to get it now. He must get a percentage because he wasn't taking no for an answer. Finally he let us in and told us to see him if we changed our mind.
Walked down the hall towards the $100-room (on the right side) and then made a left in the area near the 2 elevated stages. This is our favorite area as there's a lot of dancer traffic heading to and from the main stage and to an from the $100-room and Elyx room. Surprise surprise...lots of empty tables. Friend #1 tipped a manager $30 and he seated us at a table. Told us we might have to relocate later in the night but that he'd take care of us. And turned out we didn't have to move so that was nice. What wasn't nice was being accosted as soon as we sat down. A very intense Asian dancer came over and sat on my lap and immediately tried to take me to VIP, which I politely declined. Then she asked if I would buy her a drink; I also politely declined. I thought she'd take the hint, but no, she sat for another 5 minutes (felt like more) and finally left, but not before asking for a tip for talking to me. Uhh, no thank you. Almost as soon as she left another dancer came over and sat down. She was cute but had 2 sleeves full of tattoos so not really my thing so I told her I had just texted someone and was waiting for her to come out of the dressing room (this was actually the truth). She rolled her eyes and said sure and said something to indicate that I most likely had no money since I wasn't interested in taking her to VIP. WTF. If I politely decline maybe the dancer can just move on and find someone else.
