Strange But True
It had been quite awhile, probably at least a year, since I had last visited Taboo so I decided to stop by on a Thursday early afternoon. Ordinarily I would hit up Breathless in this same general area, but I really didn't feel like having to take out a reverse mortgage on the house to keep up with the dollar parade so I opted for Taboo instead. I arrived at about 1pm and was extremely surprised to see a half dozen girls sitting at the bar and NO other customers at all. My initial instinct was to turn around and walk out, but I decided to stick it out to see what transpired. One girl immediately took the stage, I ordered a Stella Artois which cost $4.50 (actually quite reasonable) and settled in. A few other girls emerged from the back room and, while none were terrible, most were in the 6-7 range. The one exception was this somewhat trashy looking petite blonde who was positioned at the far end of the same side of the bar where I was sitting and her face was permanently fixated on her phone. I was really surprised that I was not accosted at all by the 8 or 9 girls who were there despite my having been the sole customer in the joint at that time and I was even more surprised that no other guys were coming in. The lone exception to the lack of painful dollar parade was this one tall, thin Brazilian dancer with red hair who I would probably rate a 6 who kept coming over and opening one side of her top to "persuade" me to tip her. I believe this is the same girl I have seen here before who used to be a blonde and is always extremely annoyingly persistent in attempting to tap your pockets. When she speaks it's like something out of a bad sitcom as I can never understand what the hell she is saying and I can't believe it matters at all.
Anyway, a few of the dancers came over to talk to me and ask me if I wanted a private dance, but none of them really did it for me so I turned them all down and they did not give me any pushback whatsoever. After what seemed like an eternity, that trashy-looking blonde I had my eye on finally put down her precious Samsung Galaxy device and took the stage. After the mandatory 10 minute stint, I expected her to come over to claim her rightful dollar and then I could size her up to see if she was indeed ripe for a dance. However, I never got the chance because she immediately stepped down from the stage and went back to her seat and phone without ever coming over. I guess she must have lost me in the crowd. Maybe someone else can explain this to me because I have seen it before, but I don't understand why you occasionally see some girl who is almost always the hottest one in the place who goes through the typical stage motions, but then retreats back to her bar seat or the dressing room without interacting with any customers. Is this some type of initial audition or something? In any case, since that idea went out the window, I opted for a dance with the girl I considered the second most appealing, a relatively tall, Colombian brunette named Lorena. Unfortunately, the dance was quite tame (think Titillations-style for those who are familiar with that joke outfit) and so I pulled the plug after just one song. Incidentally the cost of each 5 minute dance is now $25, up from the original $20 and I can't say when they instituted the price increase since this is the first dance I have had here since the pandemic, but I'm guessing it was probably when they reopened. In the past I recall never having really been overly impressed with the mileage in the VIP room so I doubt I will be in a huge rush to return here. When I emerged from the VIP room to finish my beer and prepare to leave, I noticed that two other customers had entered the bar while I was getting my PG-13 rated private dance.
In summary, I would say that this visit was more odd than necessarily bad. Being the only customer in a go go bar for nearly an entire hour may be a dream come true for some people, but I felt quite uncomfortable about it and I was somewhat intrigued, although also relieved, by the fact that about half of the women didn't give me the time of day except to collect the dollar from after performing their stage time. Other times when I have arrived at around the same time of day seats are usually at a minimum and the place is overrun by regulars who completely usurp the attention of the only dancers you find appealing, but that was completely moot this time. I'm not really sure what to think as this may have just been a slow day for whatever reason, but it doesn't motivate me to want to come back anytime soon or to recommend it to anyone else since the ultimate result was more disappointment.
