The Trop in Daytime
It was late afternoon/early evening (5 something) and I was in the area so I decided to drop into the Trop. First time I've ever been there before 10pm so I didn't know what to expect. The number of cars in the parking lot told me that the place was not as empty as I kind of expected.
Twenty dollar cover at the door. They no longer accept passes, which pissed me off since I have a bunch of them. The waitress hit me up for the required drink as fast as ever - $6 bottle of water. One stage with a pole in the middle of the long rectangular room. Cocktail tables and chairs scattered around the room for seating. A few couches close to the stage and on the far left side (used for dances) and high top seating on the far right (also for dances).
I was pleasantly surprised at how busy the place was given the hour. Not Friday night busy, but plenty of dancers (maybe a dozen?) and enough customers that I wouldn't be the only target. Dancers skewed older - no big surprise - but there were at least a couple of young ones. Mix of white and Latina. In typical Trop fashion they started coming up to me shortly after I arrived. The sales pitches at the table were on the mild side of what I've experienced here.
