I hadn't been to Gallagher's in years. Back then, they had the lap dance area up the stairs and in the open. On Tuesday, that wasn't an option. It was strictly private room dances. I watched the stage show for a while trying to decide if it was worth it to go in a booth. The stage never really heats up at Gallagher's and this day was no exception. Dancers were really just shifting their weight and distant. The talent was mostly Slavic and Latina but there weren't many women in the afternoon. I eventually went with a woman who was friendly and forward at my barstool. She seemed fun, so we went to the booth.
There are cameras in the private rooms, as she told me, and what may have been a fun time in a camera-free room was an awkward dance of hiding some weak stick shifting. I was bored as soon as I realized this was essentially the same dance I'd have gotten a few years ago on the balcony, but for a lot more money. I left dejected that the highest mileage place in NY was now a let down. Oh well.
