Apparently, the smart money avoids Tuesdays.
Back in Houston after a few years, I wanted to see how St. James has held up over covid and the oil slowdown. I think I will need a larger sample.
Place looks the same -- tidy, orderly, cars apparently still being washed in the parking lot, security around. St. James was never sketchy in the evenings like Centerfolds where you really didn't want to park too far away from the streetlights at night and you saw the litter in the daylight. That was promising. Door lady was nice, no changes. Waitress was nice, no changes, although sadly no one I recognized.
It was early in the afternoon, and I may have hit a bad day, but there appeared to be about 4 ladies sitting and staring at their phones, and one rather heavy Cuban lady who would come out of the back rooms downstairs with one old guy, pick up another, and disappear. There seemed to be no one there but me, some really old guys, and the 5 ladies, four of whom were almost immobile. I stayed put for 45 minutes and was about to leave when a younger Hispanic lady came out from the back and approached me. She spoke solid English, was actually from the US, and we chatted and got some dances.
