Do you want to take the Detour?
Club Detour opened towards the end of the last year. It is across the street from Spyce on Burnside. There’s no place to park there, so you will have to find a paid parking lot nearby or somewhere on the street. This is the same parking issue you will find will all the downtown clubs. Club Detour is open Wednesday through Saturday 7pm-2:30am, so strictly a club at night.
I walked in around 11:30 on a Friday night. The cover was $10. There are three floors. 1st floor is where they do the dances, 3rd floor is where the bar and the stages are. There are two main stages, a side mini stage, and a minor stage. The club is ok size, but not a lot of seats, so when this club gets busy, you probably won’t be able to find somewhere to sit. Drink prices were a little more expensive than the average Portland club. I think it was like $9 for a rum and coke. Music is all hip hop. Customer wise it was a much younger crowd, mainly people in their 20’s and 30’s. It had more of a party nightclub bar feel than a strip club. Depending on how busy it is, they have 1 to 2 bartenders and a waitress. The bartenders are pretty hot, but you come to the strip club for the strippers not the bartenders.
As far as the strippers, it was made of 40% white girls, 35% black girls and the rest were Latinas or mixed race girls. There were more black girls than you would normally see in a Portland club. There were some skinny girls, but quite a few of the girls were on the bigger side bordering on fat. All the girls looked to be in their 20’s. The girls were mainly in the 5 to 6 range with one 8. I knew the “8” from another club, and she told me she would be trying out Detour, that’s my main reason for checking out Detour.
